ליגת פלאג גברים- שבוע 1

Opening kickoff of the 30th  season of the FM Home Loans AFI League was a spectacular event witnessed by hundreds at Kraft Stadium in Jerusalem.  The evening saw the defending champions get shocked in an upset that will be spoke about all week.  Week one also saw many close games with a few ties and late game – winning plays.  The crowd was in full throttle, cheering on their respective teams while their favorite players played with their full hearts.

Silly Salmon (1-1) VS. Big Blue (1-1)

Rookie quarterback Josh Levieden started out his career with a bang throwing three touchdown passes, two to wide receiver Dov Kosowsky to stun the veteran Big Blue squad 18-6 in game one.  Big Blue came back in game two with vengeance as new quarterback Akiva Gardner ran for one score and threw two touchdown passes to Naftali Winococur to take game two 19-13.

Vintage Vikings (0-0-2)  VS.  Gorillas (0-0-2)

Both defenses only gave up one touchdown each as game one ended in a 6-6 tie.  The Gorillas came back with under a minute left to go in the game when quarterback Rafi Friedman connected with wide receiver Sruly Friedman to draw even in game two 14-14.

Jerry's Kids (1-1) VS. Pizzeria Efrat (1-1)

Jerry's Kids quarterback Meir Cohen came out firing on all cylinders,  throwing touchdown passes to Ari Loeb and Simcha Hoch in a 21-12 game one victory.  Pizzeria Efrat had its way in game two, led by new quarterback Akiva Schwartz in a 19-0 shutout.

Derech Etz Chaim (0-1-1)   VS.   Senter Kings (1-0-1)

Senter Kings were in control in game one leading 8-0 until D.E.C came back with under a minute to go in the game after new quarterback Yerucham Pliner found Moshe Shear in the endzone for a game one tie 8-8.  Senter Kings picked up the upset in a close game two, under quarterback Bentzi Jacoby’s impressive play, for a 7-6 win.

Shana Bet Bochurim (1-1) VS.  Chaikel Travel (1-1)

Shana Bet Bochurim shocked the world and upset the defending champions in game one 13-12 after Joey Mogilner took a quick snap to the end zone with around a minute left in the game.  The Champs came back to regular form in game two with a 14-0 shutout victory.

Psychobunny’s (2-0) VS. Skokie Rebels (0-2)

Psychobunny’s came out with a bang as Michael Brooke took the opening kickoff to the house to help his team take game one 18-0.   With the game tied 6-6 with 40 seconds left to go, Psychobunny’s quarterback Ari Ganz found Elisha Rudman for his second touchdown of the night to seal the deal in a 13-6 victory.
