Week Eleven of The FM Home Loans AFI League was a week of teams fighting for their playoff seeding. Many teams have already clinched playoffs, with many still fighting to get in. The top two teams in the league battled it out as well was many other top matchups played at Kraft Stadium in Jerusalem. All teams are already in playoff mode as the road to the 30th FM Home Loans AFI League Holy Land Bowl starts to become a reality.
Bayberry Broncos (7-6-1) Vs Team Caleb (4-7-3)
Broncos wide receiver Michael Spivak had three receiving touchdowns to propell his team over Team Caleb 27-6 in game one. Team Caleb came back strong late in game two with a game winning touchdown reception from Jonah Lubow to win game two 13-12.
Big Blue (10-7-1) Vs Big Production (15-1)
Big Blue handed Big Production their first loss of the season in large part to the stellar play of Quarterback Jerome Wojtalik who had two rushing touchdowns to go along with two throwing touchdowns to help his team win game one 27-6. Big Production bounced back in game two, with wide receiver Avi Schamroth leading his team with two receiving touchdowns to win game two 22-6.
Deep Sleepers (9-7) Vs Gorillas (2-11-1)
The Deep Sleepers took advantage of the struggling Gorillas squad. Shua Guwertiz’s two touchdown receptions helped his team win game one 19-13 over the Gorillas. The Gorillas couldn’t keep up with The Deep Sleepers power offense in game two, losing 21-0.
Mud Dogs (5-10-1) Vs West Hempstead Rams (3-10-3)
Mud Dog’s wide receiver Shmuel Abraham caught two touchdowns from quarterback Miki Gruenbaum to help his team win game one 12-6. The Ram’s bounced back in game two, with wide receiver Adam Zahler scoring the only touchdown in a 7-0 victory.
Shana Bet Bochurim (5-9) Vs Psychobunny’s (9-6-1)
Isaac Laifer came back from injury this week for the Bochurim and scored two rushing touchdowns to help his team win game one 12-6. Psychobunny’s defense held off the Bochurim on the final play of the game to sneak out a 13-12 game two victory.
Skokie Rebels (4-12) Vs Jerry Kids (7-9)
Skokie Rebels quarterback Sender Galbut had three throwing touchdowns to help his team win game one 20-6. The Rebels were fighting to stay alive in the playoff hunt and got a much needed game two win 12-8 behind stellar defensive play.
Salty Pretzels (7-6-1) Vs Route 38 Roughriders (2-9-3)
Both teams battled hard in a game one 6-6 tie. Salty Pretzels Jed Fortinsky had two interceptions returned for touchdowns to lead his team to a game two 19-6 victory.
Derech Etz Chaim (9-6-1) Vs Chaikel Travel (14-2)
The top two teams in the FM Home Loans AFI league clashed hard fighting for the top playoff seed. Chaikel Travel’s quarterback Avi Zern found wide receiver Chaim Harris for the game winning touchdown in a tight 19-18 victory. Chaikel Travel’s defense shut down the offense of DEC in a game two 12-0 shutout win.
