Week Three of The FM Home Loans AFI League brought out the best in teams at Kraft Stadium, on a chilly evening in Jerusalem. Many teams began their season while other teams completed a third of their season. Top teams continued their winning ways and began to separate themselves a top their division. Week three featured many late game winning heroic plays, which will be the talk of the league this week. Once again the football competition lived up to its hype in the 30th season of the FM Home Loans AFI League.
Silly Salmon (0-5-1) VS. Mevs (3-0-1)
Wide receiver Jonathon Bick helped Mevs take game one easily 26-7. Mevs needed a last minute touchdown from quarterback Uriel Green to wide receiver Jonathon Bick to sneak a game two, 19-14 victory over The Silly Salmon.
Chaikel Travel (5-1) VS. Mercaz Moosen (1-3)
Chaikel Travel continued their winning streak after Quarterback Avi Zern found tight end Jason Allen for a late touchdown to win a close game one 14-7. Ab Reznick rushed for two touchdowns in a game two 20-0 shutout victory for the defending champions, Chaikel Travel.
BMF Falcons (1-1) VS. The Deep Sleepers (2-2)
The Falcons started their season in the right direction, with rookie quarterback Yosef Rudansky hitting Avi Favish for a game winning touchdown to win game one 18-14. The Deep Sleepers woke up big time in game two, in big help from Tight End Zachary Thurm’s two touchdown scores, to lead his team to a 28-0 shutout win.
Jerry’s Kids (2-4) VS. Toras Chaim (3-1)
Jerry’s kids missed three red zone opportunites to score and Wide Reciever Yosef Wilheim caught the only score in the game, for a 7-0 Toras Chaim victory. Toras Chaim’s Tight End Shmuli Sauer helped his team win game two 20-6, with two touchdown receptions.
Route 38 Roughriders (1-3) VS. Lev Mordechai (1-1)
Both teams went back forth all game, but the Roughriders had the last laugh on the last play of the game, with quarterback Ari Cohen finding Akiva Rindenow in the endzone for a 14-12 win. Lev Mordechai picked up their first win of the season in a game two 12-7 win.
Big Production (4-0) VS. Mud Dogs (0-2)
Big Production’s wide receivers Rafi Lloyd and Yaakov Hammer each caught touchdown passes to help their team continue their winning ways with an impressive game one 20-12 victory. Avi Shamroth started game two with a kickoff return touchdown in what became a game two 30-0 shutout win for Big Production.
Bayberry Broncos (1-1) VS. The Salty Pretzels (1-3)
Jesse Zeit and Jake Wienstock each caught touchdown passes to help the Broncos win game one 14-0. The Salty Pretzels picked up their first win of the season in upset fashion, beating the Broncos 21-20, in a close game two.
Week four of The FM Home Loans AFI League began to separate the pretenders from the contenders. Top teams in the league started to pull away from the rest of the pack. Many teams kept their winning streak alive while other teams struggled for wins. With a quarter in the season in the book for many teams, playoff seeding is beginning to creep in. Closing out games, star studded play, big catches, top defensive play, and late game heroics were all in display in front of a packed crowd at Kraft Stadium in Jerusalem.
The Deep Sleepers (4-2) VS. Silly Salmon (1-7)
The Deep Sleepers came ready to play and won game one 12-6, in big help from tight end Zachary Thurm and Eitan Guwertiz. Silly Salman had no answer in game two getting shutout 20-0.
T-Seahawks (4-2) VS. Bayberry Broncos (2-2)
Quarterback Meir Reischer and with help from wide receiver Chaim Kriger led the T-Seahawks to victory 13-0 in game one. The Bayberry Broncos came back in heroic fashion in game two with two late touchdowns from Shai Laniado and Jesse Zeit to complete the upset over the T-Seahawks 14-13.
Big Blue (3-2-1) VS. Mud Dogs (0-3-1)
Both teams battled hard in game one, but it was the defenses that prevailed in a 0-0 game one tie. Big Blue’s offense came out rocking in game two behind one-two punch, quarterback Jerome Wojtalik and wide receiver Ahron Stefansky connecting on multiple plays in route to a 20-7 game two victory.
Big Production (6-0) VS. Gorillas (2-3-3)
Big Production continued their impressive season with an easy 18-0 game one win. Wide recievers Avi Schamroth and Misha Belov both played key roles for the undefeated Big Production, who won game two 24-6.
Skokie Rebels (0-6) VS. Toras Chaim (5-1)
Toras Chaim played excellent on both sides of the ball in game one, shutting out their opponent in game one 13-0. Wide Recievers Yehuda Deutsch and tight end Shmuli Sauer both caught touchdown passes in a game two 22-0 victory.
Augenbaum Realty (5-1) VS. Route 38 Roughrider (1-5)
Augenbaum Realty’s quarterback Rav Marmor rushed and threw for multiple touchdowns in a game one 27-13 win. Wide receivers Chesky Abramowitz and Bentzi Azose both hauled in touchdown receptions in a game two shutout 33-0 over Route 38 Roughriders.
PsychoBunny’s (5-1) Vs Pizzeria Efrat (2-4)
Both teams went back forth in game one with Psychobunnys able to hold off the feisty Pizzeria Efrat in a game one 13-12 win. Pizzeria Efrat came back in game two, after down 13-0, but fell short at the one yard line for a 13-8 loss.
Vintage Vikings (2-2-2) VS. West Hampstead Rams (1-3-2)
Quarterback Nussie Felder continued his impressive play with three touchdown passes in a game one 18-6 win over the Rams. Wide receivers Dovi Salzburg and Yonason Brody both caught touchdown receptions in a 13-0 Viking Victory.
