Week six of The FM Home Loans AFI League was a week of many teams bouncing back from tough losses in previous weeks. Many teams look to begin winning streaks in the second half of the season and ride them into the playoffs. Most top teams were able to win close games and some lower teams pulled off big upsets. Teams are fighting hard as the season hits the half-way point for most teams, and the attention turns to who will raise the 30th Holy Land Bowl Trophy.
Augenbaum Realty (6-1-1) VS. Bayberry Broncos (4-3-1)
Augenbaum Realty kept their impressive start to the season behind their team captain, quarterback Rav Marmor who led his team to victory in game one 21-13. Both teams battled back in forth in game two which ended in a hard fought 14-14 tie.
Senter Kings (3-4-1) VS. Shana Bet Bochurim (2-6)
Senter Kings broke out of their long losing streak, exploding for a big win in game one 25-6. Defense played a major role in game two for the Senter Kings who shutout Shana Bet Bochurim 6-0 in game two.
Psychobunny’s (7-3) VS. Jerrys Kids (5-5)
Psychobunny’s offense was called for a holding in the end zone for a safety which resulted in the only points in the game as Jerrys Kids won game one 2-0. Psychobunny’s responded strongly in game two behind two touchdowns from wide receiver Elisha Rudman in a game two victory 19-6.
The Salty Pretzels (4-6) VS. Team Caleb (4-4-2)
The Salty Pretzels kept their surprising season going with 8-6 game one win in large help from wide receiver Jed Fortinsky. Quarterback Asher Harris threw for a few touchdown passes in game two to help the Salty Pretzels win game two 13-9.
Chaikel Travel (8-2) VS. Pizzeria Efrat (4-6)
Chaikel Travel’s quarterback Avi Zern threw two touchdown passes to wide receivers Aaron Pultman and Chaim Harris to win game one 13-7. Pizzeria came short of an upset as they were called for offensive pass interference with under a minute left in the game in the end zone to lose a tight game two 14-13.
Mercaz Moosen (3-4-1) VS. Skokie Rebels (0-8)
Mercaz Moosen were able to bounce back in week six after a few hard weeks with help from wide receiver Moshe Feintuch, who had two touchdowns in a game one 12-6 victory. Defensive lineman Yoel Abromowitz took a deflected pass back for a touchdown to help the Moosen take game two 20-6.
Big Blue (6-3-1) VS. Gorillas (2-5-3)
Big Blue was back to regular form with quarterback Jerome Wojtalik rushing for two touchdowns and throwing for one In a game one 20-6 win. Big Blue’s wide receivers Josh Hauser, David Fitoussi, and Avi Weinreb all had touchdown receptions in a game two victory 20-6.
Mud Dogs (2-5-1) VS. BMF Falcons (6-2)
The BMF Falcons picked up a big win in game one 12-6 behind quarterback Yosef Rudanksy. The Mud Dogs came back big time in game two behind quarterback Miki Gruenbaum Three touchdown passes in a game two victory 18-14.
Mevs (5-4-1) VS. Vintage Vikings (4-4-2)
Mevs scored on their first three drives of the game, all on touchdowns from quarterback Uriel Green to wide receiver Jonathan Bick in a game one win 21-7. Mevs quarterback Uriel Green rushed for two touchdowns in game two for an 18-6 victory.
