Week 11 – Jan. 21ST
ORLI PRINT vs. MTVA
In an exhilarating game on the final night of our regular season before the playoffs, TVA played the fiery girls of Orli’s Print. While the game started off looking good for TVA, with a fierce defense composed of all four members of their team, Orli Print quickly kicked into high gear. TVA got a great workout by chasing Orli’s Print down the field, who scored amazing TDs caught by Dalia Tesler, Neely Saker, Adiella Cohnen, Eta Cohnen and Lyla Tesler. Dalia, Adiella and Eta all got extra points. TVA scored a beautiful TD as well, by Tamar Geller who sprinted with the ball and narrowly avoided many grabs by the opposing team. Final score: 36-6 win for Orli Print.
Both teams kept the energy levels up during their second game, with Orli Print scoring TDs practically every 2 minutes. TVA’s QB Sophie Maimon did a wonderful job, but unfortunately for them, Orli Print’s defense prevented anyone on TVA from catching the ball, and the game ended with a 36-0 win for Orli Print.
EDEN’S EAGLES vs. SO METRO
These two strong competitive teams left it all out on the field. So Metro’s QB Chana Abrams kept connecting with her offense players all night, and players Bella Weill and Tamar Brown both scored a TD, with Tamar bringing in the extra point. The Eagles’ offense was just as impressive, with QB Lyla Zucker throwing a TD pass to Kayla Singer. On defense, QB Lyla intercepted the ball and ran it in for a pick-6. So Metros’ Racheli Matis beautifully intercepted the ball as well, but Lyla Zucker swooped in and pulled her flag just shy of another TD. Final score: 13-12 win for So Metro.
With one game down, Eden’s Eagles were feeling the heat and tightened up their defenses. However, So Metro’s defense player Racheli Matis used her intercepting skills and brought in a TD for her team. The Eagles kept blocking passes and pulling flags, but try as they did they couldn’t get anywhere near Tamar Brown, who scored another TD. Ronit Reichel and Naama Schorr both caught the extra points, and the game ended with a 14-0 win for So Metro.
MISHAAN vs. BIG BLUE
In a very combative and injury-filled game, both Mishaan and Big Blue fought hard on the field for the winning title. Big Blues’ Elisheva Marcus caught 3 impressive interceptions, and Daniella Friedman caught a pick-6. On offense, Both Nechama Brickner and Daniella Friedman caught amazing passes thrown by QB Roni Kahn and ran them in for TDs, with Ora Gold and Elisheva Marcus catching the extra points. Mishaans’ Rhonda Lloyd and Sarah Schwartz did an incredible job on defense, blocking passes and knocking the ball down. Final score: 26-0 win for Big Blue.
Game 2 started with both teams’ defenses battling it out, refusing to allow any points to be added onto the scoreboard. Mishaans’ Ayala Farkas caught a gorgeous interception and ran it down the field, but her attempt for a win was blocked by Ora Gold just shy of the end-zone. Big Blues’ Atara Klein and Livia Nulman were on fire pulling flags, and rusher Nechama Brickner got a sack. With no points scored and several girls down after a 4-person head-on collision, the intense game finally came to a close with a 0-0 tie.
NYB vs. HARVEY’S SMOKEHOUSE
In yet another collision-filled game, Harvey’s QB Cindy Scarr kicked off the night with a fantastic TD pass to Esti Mandel. NYB wasn’t far behind with their own TD attempt which was blocked right in front of the end-zone line by Mandel. Harvey’s Smokehouses’ defense was on point, with rusher Bayla Greenblum sacking NYBs’ QB, Rena Rabhan, and with play-saving pulls by Tehila Lowenstein. NYB’s defense player Tova Rabhan caught a beautiful interception and ran it in for a pick-6, evening out the score, but Harvey’s Cindy Scarr passed a quick ball to Merav Barach, who ran the ball across the entire field for another TD. With an extra point caught by Merav, the game ended with a 13-6 win for Harvey’s Smokehouse.
Game 2 started with amazing passes by NYB QB Rena Rabhan, up until Smokehouses’ Eli Baumol snatched up a gorgeous interception, which eventually led to her catching the TD pass, and Tehila Lowenstein securing the extra point. Both teams had very strong defensive players – special shout-out goes to NYB’s Deena Hornstein who had amazing flag pulls, and Harvey’s Merav Barach who blocked many passes. Final score: 7-0 win for Harvey’s Smokehouse.
WILDKATZ vs. MTVA
After their game earlier tonight against Orli Print, MTVA was off to a fresh start, with a grand total of 4 very determined players. TVA had s great defense and the game went off with few mishaps. This game, like many others tonight, had a few casualties, as TVAs’ Yael Perlman had an awesome block and then tripped over the ball, and later on Wildkatzs’ Julia Fendleman fell twice. Wildkatz QB Racheli Lipner killed it with incredible TD passes caught by Shira Kalnitz and Talya Markowitz. TVAs’ QB Sophie Maimon wasn’t too shabby herself, and Shana Lowenstein had a few successful runs. Final score: 20-6 win for Wildkatz.
The woman of the hour during the second game was definitely Wildkatzs’ Talya Markowitz, who succeeded in intercepting the ball a total of 5 times, running most of those in for pick-6s. Julia Fendleman also scored an awesome TD. Although TVA wasn’t scoring any points, they all attested to having a great time, and a huge shout out goes to their injured member, Tamar Geller, was an incredible cheerleader. Final Score: 24-0 win for Wildkatz.
DB BANDITS vs. ISP-ELIEZER’S MOVERS
Isp-Eliezer’s Movers started off strong on defense with 2 impressive sacks by Noa Goldrich, who then went on to have the first catch on offense. Kelly then scored the first TD of the night topping it off with a 2 point conversion. Noa caught the next TD pass, lil' sis Avi Goldrich brought in the extra point, and later on Racheli Abell got another TD for ISP. Meanwhile, DB Bandits had some great catches by Rina Koegel and Faige Wilner, and rushers Eliana Freeman and Faigy Rubinoff had some impressive sacks. On Eliezer’s Movers’ last offensive drive of the game Noa Goldrich once again caught the TD pass, ending the game with a 27-0 win for ISP.
Game 2 started with both teams letting loose a bit and having a blast! Cheers to Rina Koegel of DB Bandtis, for singing while playing and putting everyone in a great mood. ISP’s Adina caught a beautiful pass by QB Ilana Frankel and got a first down, which Noa Goldrich quickly converted into a TD, after which Adina brought in the 2 extra points. DB Bandits’ rusher Sarah Leah Shapiro managed to put great pressure on ISPs’ QB, while the Eliezer’s Movers rusher Racheli Abell did the same, landing in a sack. Next up, Ilana Frankel intercepted and got a pick-6, but the extra point attempt was incomplete. ISP scored 2 more TDs, the first by Ilana Frankel who ran it in across the field and the second by Adina Aisenthal-Berkowitz. Noa Goldrich was able to secure the 2 point conversion, resulting in a 28-0 win for ISP-Eliezer’s Movers.
