Week 4 – November 26th
ORLY PRINT vs. MISHAAN PLUMBERS
Fresh faced Orli Print put on their fiercest defense yet, making sure to give Mishaan a run for their money. Throughout the game, both teams gave it their all, when finally Mishaan’s Ayala Farkas put some points on the scoreboard, swooping in with an interception and scoring the games’ one and only TD!
With Mishaan winning the first game, it seemed they got just the motivation they were looking for to start the second game strong. Sarah Schwartz caught an interception thrown by Orli Print’s QB Adiella Cohnen, and Tirza Wilner completed a TD pass. Adrian Vinson scored the second TD of the game, as well as an extra point, ending the game in a 13-0 Mishaan win.
HARVEY’S SMOKEHOUSE vs. WILDKATZ
This was a good week to be a Smokehouse player! Harvey’s Smokehouse dominated both their games against Wildkatz. During their first game, QB Cindy Scarr threw incredible TD passes caught by Tehila Lowenstein (1 TD) and Esti Mandel (2 TDs), while Bayla Greenblum intercepted and ran it in for a pick-6. Rivka Weinberg caught an extra point.
Havrey’s Smokehouse sure does love sharing credit! In Game 2, Bayla Greenblum, Atara Reichel and Esti Mandel all scored TDs, with Atara and Eli Baumol scoring the extra points. Harvey’s had 5(!!) picks overall, caught by Bayla, Tehila and Eli.
Although the Wildkatz weren’t able to score, they had great team spirit and seemed to be having a blast! Final scores: 25-0 and 26-0 to Harvey’s Smokehouse.
ISP/ELIEZERS MOVERS vs. SO Metro
Eliezers Movers, aka ISP, started the game off strong moving fast across the field with 2 catches by Racheli Abell, followed by a TD by Kelly and topped off with an extra point caught by Noa Goldrich. Their defense was just as impressive, with 3 flag pulls by Marg Abell and a knocked ball by Kelly. Not an easy task, as So Metro with Tamar Brown and Chana Abrams as QBs came to fight, advancing the ball with some beautiful catches by Racheli Matis. ISP took the field but met a very determined So Metro. With balls being knocked down by Ronit Reichelle and 2 sacks by Racheli, ISP managed to advance the ball – only to be stopped just shy of the first down with a flag pulled by Tamar. On defense again, Eliezers Movers/ISP turned things around with an interception made by Kelly, and on offense had a great catch by Marg, followed by a TD catch by Noa and an extra point by Racheli Abell. With mere seconds left in the game, Marg on defense kept the rhythm going with an interception, allowing Noa to catch the last TD of the game and Kelly to score the extra point, ending the game at 20-0.
The second game was just as action packed! So metro started the game off with some very nice catches by Racheli and Tamar, only to be stopped by flags pulled by Marg and Sharona and then an interception by Racheli of ISP. Eliezers Movers then went on to Score with a TD catch by Kelly and an extra point by Aliza. Both teams’ defense was aggressively strong, with ISP’s Avi Goldrich and Sharona pulling flags and knocking balls. Eliezers movers QB Ilana Frankel then ran the field to Score a TD, but the extra point was blocked by SO Metros’ Ronit. With another interception caught by ISPs Marg, the persistent So Metros did not give up, as proven by Chana Abrams and Racheli knocking balls out of ISPs reach, and Tamar diving for a flag stopping Sharona inches away from another TD. However, Avi was unstoppable as she ran the length of the field catching a deep pass and turnung it into a TD. Extra point was once again knocked down by the tight So Metro defense. The game ended with just as much excitement, with an interception caught by Racheli of ISP, who ran past 4 defenders only to be stopped by Racheli of So Metro. Final score – 19-0. Shout out to Tamar who showed off some impressive diving skills this game!
MTVA vs. DB BANDITS
When two seminary teams compete, one can always expect action- and tonight’s game definitely had a lot going on! Both MTVA and the DB Bandits fought tooth and nail (figuratively), but in the end Mtva won both games. Maytal Liyat ran a fly, caught a gorgeous pass by QB Becca Spitzer and sprinted past 2 of DB’s defense players, until she had an undefended line to the end zone. Maytal scored 2 TDs for MTVA, and Tamar Geller caught the 2 extra points. DB Bandits were just as intense, and scored a TD and an extra point, ending the first game in a 14-7 win for MTVA. The second game had everyone on their feet with passes thrown in all directions and both teams’s cheering squads practically losing their voices. Final score – 19-6 win for MTVA.
BIG BLUE vs. EDEN’S EAGLES
The final game of the night was quite an intense one. While both teams were missing many of their players, they were not lacking in fighting spirit! Both teams had strong defense players and no points were scored for the majority of the game. The Eagles’ Rushers, Kayla Singer and Tziri Goldring, tried their best to put some pressure on Big Blue’s QB, Roni Kahn, but Roni wasn’t fazed and threw amazing passes all night long – one of those caught by Nechama Brickner who ran it straight into the end zone for a TD, with Daniella Brown scoring an extra point. The Eagles wouldn’t lag behind, and scored a TD as well, caught by Kayla Singer, but their extra point pass was incomplete, ending the first game with a 7-6 Big Blue win.
The second game was just as exciting and close! QB Roni Kahn played a great defensive game, catching an interception as well, but not one of the Big Blue players came close to the amount of interceptions caught by Elisheva Marcus, who was officially crowned Queen of Interceptions on the Big Blue defense. On offense, Nechama scored her second TD of the night, and Elisheva scored the extra point. Yet again, Eden’s Eagles fought their hardest and QB Lyla threw a beautiful TD pass, caught by Nitzana Straus. Extra point attempt was blocked by Atara Klein. Final Score – 7-6 for Big Blue. Shout out to Atara Klein and Yehudit Brickner who were incredible on both defense and offense, and to Meira Jacobowitz who couldn’t play due to an injury but came to cheer her team on!
