The Round Of 32 Of The FM Home Loans AFI league brought out the best in teams who were playing to stay alive in the hunt.  Teams came early to get ready for their win or go home games in the Jerusalem cool winter air.  Fans packed into Kraft Stadium to watch their favorite teams play exciting playoff football.  The stage was set, anticipation was over, the bright playoff lights were on, and the road to the 29th Holy Land Bowl began.

The mighty Chaikel Travel went up against the pesky Big Kabbalah Brand squad in the opener.  Chaikel Travel continued right where they left off in the regular season playing stellar defense combined with fast striking offense.  Chaikel Travel’s quarterback Shuey Dachs threw multiple touchdowns to tight end Aaron Schik and star wide receiver Yoni Panigel.  Chaikel Travel’s defense accounted for two interception touchdowns and countless sacks to help beat Big Kabbalah Brand 50-19.

Dahaks were looking to upset the rising Hedgehogs 2.0 team.  Hedgehogs 2.0 came ready for the challenge, taking a large lead by halftime and never looking back.  Hedgehogs 2.0 quarterback Kalmi Netzer connected with his new favorite target Efraim Klecky for four touchdowns.  Dahaks could not keep up with high flying offense of the Hedgehogs 2.0, losing 33-6.

The tough Jerry’s Kids had their hands full vs a strong DEC team.  DEC’s game plan of ground and pound worked extremely well, rushing for four touchdowns.  Jerry’s Kids had no answer for the fire power of DEC.  DEC’s Yerucham Pliner and Moshe Shear both found the end zone twice in a 31-6 blowout win.

The defending champion Imrei Hillbillies battled against the improved Big Blue squad.  Big Blue kept it close in the first half with great defensive play, holding the champs to just 6 first-half points.  Going into the second half tied 6-6, it looked like the defending champs were in trouble.  Hillbillies quarterback Yaakov Buff help lead his team with three second half touchdown passes to beat the tough Big Blue team 27-12.

Mercaz brought the heat vs The Legends team.  Mercaz began their playoffs with a bang, playing great on both sides of the ball.  Mercaz’s quarterback Binyamin Greenwald threw for several touchdown passes and rushed for a few as well.  The Legends couldn’t keep up with the powerful Mercaz, losing 53-14.

The talented Joe’s Eagles clashed with the veteran Pizzeria Efrat team.   After Joe’s Eagles jumped out on front 7-0, Pizzeria Efrat came storming back with 20 unanswered points to take a commanding 20-7 halftime lead.  Joe’s Eagles clawed back with touchdowns from wide receivers Yonaton Atkin and Moshe Wasserman to tie the game at 20-20.  Pizzeria Efrat’s quarterback Bibi Goodman rushed the length of the field to put his team up 26-20 with under a few minutes left in the game.  Joe’s Eagles quarterback Kobe Greenfield drove down the field and found wide receiver Elazar Kolom on a 4th and goal to tie the game at 26-26.  Joe’s Eagles were able to convert the extra point and seal the deal in an impressive come from behind 27-26 victory.

The powerful Psycho Bunny’s blasted by the feisty 48ers team.  Psycho Bunny’s offense was in full playoff swing scoring in multiple ways and pulling away late vs the 48ers.  Psycho Bunny’s receiving core, Yoni Samet, Chatz Katz, and Aryeh Bogopulsky all found the end zone in an impressive 48-0 shutout win.

Champion hopeful Tzioni Fisherman started their playoff run on the right foot vs a lively 305 squad.  The Fisherman scored early and often to take a massive lead into halftime.  The second half was more of the same as the Fisherman’s offense exploded for a 61-6 blowout victory.

Yemin Orde squad clashed with the scary Integramed Thunder Muffins team.  Thunder Muffin’s quarterback Avrami Farkas was back in action after missing a few weeks, leading his team to an early lead at halftime.  The Thunder Muffins pulled away in the second half for an easy 56-26 win.

The Koby Hawks took on the Buds Reliable Care in the finally.  The Hawks came prepared as they took the early lead vs the Buds.  The Buds were unable to match the intensity of the Hawks.  The Hawks pulled away late in the game for an upset 36-19 victory.

The Round of 32 Of The FM Home Loans AFI League was just a start to what will be coming in FM Home Loans AFI League Playoffs.  Many of the top teams in the league took care of business in winning their matchup versus the lower seeds.  The top four Friday League teams are still standing and looking to upset in the next rounds.  People will be talking about the big matchups in the round of 16 as DEC faces Tzioni Fisherman, Integramed Thunder Muffins faces Chaikel Travel, and Psycho Bunny’s take on Joe’s Eagles.  It’s just the beginning of the much anticipated road to the 29th Holy Land Bowl.
