Bais and IOT Tech make a huge splash

The bright lights shined once again; the red cones were placed down on the yard lines; the smell of fresh turf filled the arena; the sound of the fans screamed once more; and the kickoff to the 32nd FM Home Loans AFI League Flag Football season got underway. Teams cleated up for a fresh start; a new hope; a goal in place; and a dream to fulfill. Many veterans came back for another year to conquer their quest; the desire and the will to fight for the Holy Land Bowl Trophy. Many new faces showed up to play their first game ever in the FM Home Loans AFI League along with many other veterans that are on new teams this season. Many squads have loaded up on talent at all positions with one goal in sight. The new format of league showcased one long forty-minute game with two twenty-minute halves.


D.E.C (1-0) Vs The Huskies (0-1)

D.E.C looked like their old self in week one, playing the ground and pound rushing game for much of the game. Moshe Shear and Yerucham Pliner lead the run game with Motti Kassai and Asher Labell blocking for them. Zak Lenick’s touchdown reception in the first half gave D.E.C a commanding lead that they would not give up and resulting in a 32-12 victory over The Huskies.


Bais (1-0) Vs Psychobunnies (0-1)

The Psychobunnies veteran squad looked to take advantage of the rookie Bais Team. The Bunnies were in for a surprise after both of their touchdowns were answered right away by the fiery Bais team. Bais quarterback Mordechai Krupp connected with his new favorite target Moshe Zin for two touchdowns to keep Bais in a tight matchup. Moshe Zinn came up big again; this time on defense; with an interception touchdown from his own red zone to put Bais in front. The Psychobunnies drove down the field and scored on their last drive to pull within one point and then decided to go for the win, but fell short to Bais in an 20-19 loss.


IOT Tech Titans (1-0) Vs Toras Chaim (0-1)

Toras Chaim was poised to start the season off where they left off last season, after making it to the championship. Toras Chaim’s offense had trouble moving the ball versus the shutdown defense of the Titans; led by Sam Raice who had three interceptions on the night. IOT Tech Titans held a commanding 14-2 lead before Quarterback Noam Gelb led his troops to two late second half touchdowns to take a slim 16-14 lead with under a minute to go. The Titans showed no fear and quarterback M.D. Weissmandl connected with Binyamin Larner for the game winning touchdown in a 22-16 thrilling victory.


Sparks (1-0) Vs Lev Mordechai (0-1)

The young Sparks squad looked to get their season started off on the right foot versus a hungry new Lev Mordechai team. Lev Mordechai had trouble all game long; turning over the ball to a stellar Sparks defense who held Lev Mordechai to just six points in a 19-6 win.
