Week 5 of The FM Home Loans AFI League had multiple matchups of top teams facing off. The top games lived up to their hype as games went down to the final drives. Many teams have now passed the quarter mark of the season and they know who they are and what they must improve on. The journey is still long but the light at the end is starting to rise to the Holy Land Bowl.
Psychobunnies (3-1) Vs Whistle Blowers (1-2-1)
The Psychobunnies took a commanding lead in the first half behind two touchdown receptions from tight end Moshe Kahn from quarterback Ari Ganz. Whistle Blowers came storming back with 14 unanswered points and had the ball with the lead with less than two minutes left to go in the game. After a defensive stand; the Psychobunnies marched down the field and quarterback Ari Ganz connected a long touchdown pass to Yehuda Deutsch for the game winning score in an 18-14 win.
The Redskins (2-1-1) Vs Big Blue (1-2-1)
The Redskins defense contained Big Blue’s offense all game long. Redskins quarterback Daniel Liviem threw for four touchdown passes to multiple wide receivers and led his team to a 26-6 victory.
IOT Tech Titans (3-1) Vs The Mob (2-2)
The Mob looked poised to bounce back from their disappointing loss in Week 4. The Mob took an early lead but could not pull away from the pesky Titans; unable to complete two red-zone drives. IOT Tech Titans took advantage and mounted a late game drive which resulted in quarterback Moshe Dovid Weissmandl floating the game winner to Ben Larner to complete the upset in a 15-12 win.
Diesel Devils (1-2) Vs The Huskies (0-5)
The Huskies were looking to pick up their first win of the season versus the Diesel Devils. The Huskies offense came alive scoring on multiple drives but ended up falling short to the Diesel Devils in a 24-18 loss.
DEC (3-1-1) Vs WSG Mercaz Moosen (4-0)
Both teams came into the much anticipated matchup undefeated. WSG Mercaz Moosen’s wide receiver Gav Goldberg had two first half touchdowns to pull ahead of DEC. DEC had success with their running game in the first half before Mercaz made adjustments to halt it. WSG Mercaz Moosen pulled away in the second half after quarterback Dovi Mann’s rushing touchdown, to win 25-13.
Toras Chaim (2-2) Vs IFG Pandas (1-2)
Toras Chaim continued their winning streak behind their shutdown defense which held the IFG Pandas scoreless. Toras Chaim’s offense only scored on one of their drives; but that was enough in a 9-0 shutout victory.
